One of 365
What is it the significance of noting where the earth happened to be in its orbit around the sun at the moment when someone was born? Who cares where the earth was relative to the sun at that sampled moment? What difference does it make if the earth was closer to the sun or farther away in its elliptical orbit?
So the earth rotates around on its axis causing there to be light and darkness 365 or so times as it orbits the sun one time. Why subdivide that rotation into 24 segments? Why then further subdivide those segments into 60 units? Why divide those units again into 60 smaller units? Why subdivide those smallest units by 60 to regulate the changing of polarity on our alternating current electrical grid? All of this based on the locational position the earth relative to the sun at a sampled moment? What if the elliptical orbit of the earth was 50% larger? What if the rotation of the earth was 2% faster? That would be a great “weight loss” program … would it not!
Why do we choose to note and “celebrate” every time the earth passes by the spot where it was in the orbit when we were born? Why do we hold that moment in orbital locational, (day) different than all the other “days”, (segments of orbital location relative to the sun with durations of one rotation of the earth on its axis).
Why do we go out of our way to treat our loved ones “special” on that “day”? We treat them like a king or queen on that “day”. We effort to tolerate their idiosyncrasies for the duration of one half of the rotation of the earth on its axis. Why?
Perhaps the better question is … why not treat them that well every “day”?
Why is a husband expected to love and honor his wife in a special way only one of 365 of the earth’s rotations around the sun?
Where do we get that scripturally?
What I read is “husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church … and gave Himself for her”. No sense of only love her that way for one of 365’s of an orbit around the sun?
Why are we so inconsistent in our care for one another? Is God incapable of working in us to love for all 365 rotations?
Just sayin?
