Does God need us?
Why does God use humans to share the message of His love?
He Has Angels far more capable of communicating His thoughts than we humans? He has bushes that burn … but are never consumed. He has donkeys that speak the truth … when men won’t. He has stones ready to cry out … on command. Why would He need us to “proclaim His Gospel”?
Consider that throughout the OT and the NT God has mostly used people to influence others to know Him. God could have sent Jesus as a Spirit, but Jesus arrived in bodily form to help people understand that this infinite, omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent God is interested in them, in their struggles and in their day-to-day existence.
Today, there are more personal encounters than there are only spiritual encounters like dreams and visions. The tangible is needed so that people can see and feel how a lover of God is connected with our Lord and how that’s possible for them too. The fruits of the Spirit are displayed through people and not in an environment devoid of people. How will someone learn what God’s compassion, mercy, forgiveness etc. if they don’t see a demonstration of that in another human being? The church is compared to a Body not a spirit. The body is a physical and biological entity. The wellbeing of one organ depends on the wellbeing of other organs or body parts. Everything in the body is connected whether we see it or not.
It’s true that God doesn’t need us to demonstrate His love to others, none the less He chooses to do so. It appears to be our “training camp” for things yet future. Therefore, we must be dependent on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in our interaction with others. Doing so makes us more dependent on the Lord and also encourages us to continue to build an intimate relationship with Him.
A wise man told me that “ministry is a privilege, not a right”. We should treat it that way … lest our Father remove the privilege.
